I seem to have missed out.
25 years service to office work apparently isn't enough!

I don't think Eric would appreciate his life's voluntary work being described as 'stuff', Keith. I think the word you were looking for was 'achievements'.
However I do agree that the top end of the system is overloaded with politicians and slebs. Knighthoods and lordships should be reserved primarily for outstanding achievements outside politics, particularly in the fields of sport, academia, science, the arts and philanthropy generally. But people like pop musicians, footballers and others who achieve fame and success while being paid a king's ransom should not be honoured unless they do a lot of good charitable work with their money - and pay their fair share of tax.
Giving knighthoods to political donors and mates of the party leaders just cheapens the whole system.

And then some doctor, just doing his job and helped by a score of minions gets an award for being there when some baby is delivered.
Sickening.

Don't be like that Terry, I'm sure that he is a very good doctor.
How can anyone not support our monarchy in promoting such a meritocratic celebration?
