Another pub bites the dust.

  The Yew Tree in Mill Hill closed its doors on Wednesday with rumours it is to become a Tesco's home store.
  My father and Grand Fathers were regulars there for years, I worked there and met my wife there and have many happy memories over many years.
  Many happy years have been spent at this pub by many people, very very sad day.

  So sorry to hear that Gary, How many times has this been echoed around the land?
  
  At the recent beer festival I was astounded to hear how much the price of a barrel of lager had gone up mainly due to fuel costs.
  One particular brand had jumped from £75 to £120.
  Then you wonder why pubs are closing.

  surprised about the "yew tree" seemed to have a good catchment area.
  
  as well a transport costs, high beer duties, cheap supermarket booze and the smoking ban have contributed to the demise of pubs.

  Howard, have you booked the bench in Pencester yet for Sunday morning.
  We have quite a crowd this week and may have to hoike the next one along.

  incidentally we have a new breed of drinkers in that locality now as evidenced b ythe discarded cans by every seat.
  
  i will look in the morning and give the brand name, never seen it until recently.

  A sad day to see the Yew Tree go Gary, big part of many peoples life in Mill Hill over the years. Not sure about Tesco, there are rumours of them opening in the DIY shop in Queen Street .

  I used to do the Disco'e there in 1974,I remember 2 young ladies related to the Land lord!
  If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

  Bernice was one of Bernards daughter's, and I think the other is called Janice but not sure of that, she works in Icelands so will ask her next time i shop there.
