Cost of year season ticket Deal - St Pancras £5324 (average cost/journey £11.09 = roughly cost of coffee + lunch + quality newspaper).

Cost Victorian Terraced House Islington £1,400,000. Cost of same in Deal <£500,000.

    You do the maths!

(I won't even start about proximity to Golf Courses, Grammar Schools, Yacht Marinas, Countryside, Seaside, France)

In all seriousness the best thing for Dover area would be to get rid of the whining low skilled Dovorians and replace them with high-achieving high-earning commuters. It's working a treat in Deal! You could forget the much anticipated Nandos, you'd be looking at a mega-Waitrose on the DTIZ site in the blink of an eye!

No 'affordable' housing in Dover? Well bugger off to somewhere like Hull then (average house price £134841) . I hear it's quite nice this time of year AND it's a European City of Culture ( ).

CULTURE vb - maintain (tissue cells, bacteria, etc.) in conditions suitable for growth.
(Just about sums up Hull, as does the fact that last time I was there the football team was being sponsored by Cash Converters - which is apparently where poor people go to sell the expensive mobile phones they have stolen from each other)
