Seems a case of semantics Howard. To be honest I didn't even read it all.

Yes, it was boring Howard - he says nothing new, lots of self-justification. He was right that to describe the riots as anarchy is lazy reporting though, the media would be better of as just describing it for what it is - pure opportunist criminality.

I liked the paragraph:
Andrew Maxwell, an Irish comedian, put it best: "Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper."
Says it all for me.

Maxwell's statement just shows that he like so many ignores reality and how the world really works.

Or it shows that he has a wider view.

my reading of the quote from this maxwell chap was that he saw that as an ideal and genuinely wanted social unrest.
