07:165862You might like to look at your phone bill and on there you will be met with an interesting new charge. (Well poor ould BT are short of money..down to their last billion in annual profit...and from their directors viewpoint "every little helps!"...helps them.)
I speak of the new charge for..wait for it.. PROCESSING YOUR BILL!
Yes BT now charge you £4.95 to process your bill. Whether you pay by cheque, by credit card, or indeed with gold bars, they will charge you an extra £4.95 for the process.
This is the same as going into M&S to buy a pair of jeans for £20. Then when you get to the counter or till they say..
"That'll £4.95 extra sir/madam for processing your bill!"
So the same pair of jeans will cost you £24.95.
Of course M&S dont do any such thing because the competition on the High St would kill it off, but BT do it. This company has too much power, and lets face it in reality have a complete and total monopoly. Lets say they have 10 million customers, well thats an extra £ 49,500,000 raised at a stroke on every single bill. Multiply that by 4 times a year and you are up to £199,000,000 profit and that's before they charge you for anything proper.
Too much power, too much of a monopoly, too large profits...I'm with the unions..nationalise them.

They are not the only one's either T Mobile are charging you around £2.45 for an itemised bill you didn't want. Jeez! They'll do anything to squeeze even more money out of you

17:325898Oh great. I've got BT for my phone and Broadband, and T Mobile for my mobile phone. No wonder I'm skint all the time. (Excepting the vast quantities of alcohol I drink, naturally).

19:155904I have combined all my gas, electricity, phone, mobile and broadband with a supplier who guarantees to match or be cheaper than the cheapest of the 'big six' power companies. They do give an excellent service as well and to cap it all I am over £100 in credit with them!

Another year, another BT rise
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-28902300
BT has warned millions of customers it is increasing its prices by up to 6.5% from December this year.
It will increase the line rental for direct debit customers by 6.25% to £16.99, and the rate for calling UK landlines by 6.44%.
The set-up fee for landline calls, residential calls, to the speaking clock and call return charges will also increase for some or all customers.
But BT said it had added "extra money-saving options" for poorer customers.
The majority of its customers were on inclusive call packages and would not pay set-up fees or pence per minute charges on calls, said BT.
BT's option for low-income customers, BT Basic, will stay the same at £5.10 a month with a call allowance.
John Petter, chief executive at BT Consumer, said: "We have taken care to make sure that low-income customers avoid price increases."
He added: "We have added extra money-saving options for low-income customers and for customers who only want a phone line for calls."
Broadband prices are going up by as much as 6.49%, although BT said its current "high profile" press and TV broadband offers would stay at the same price.
It added that call bills had fallen 14% in the past five years.
Sky, BT's rival, is set to increase some of its tariffs from September.Jan Higgins
