I found this and thought I would share it with you. I have my own views on the EU, and I know some others share them. Worth a conversation, anyway!

We are oh so fortunate in having a Parliament that is supreme. Phew!

This, of course, is exactly what has been happening.

But, tomorrow is another day. Vive la République?

A quick search indicates that rather than this being a quote from Jean Monnet it is an inaccurate representation by Conservative MP Adrian Hilton. Surely not!
If it works...........

Indeed Mark that is true.
However, unfortunately, the European political elite (the French in particular) have made no secret of the fact that their end game is an EU superstate and they will use the arcane almost Byzantine rule book of the "club" to get their way even if that means ignoring the wishes of the people or hoodwinking them into believing that is what they wanted all along.
I am all for greater European co-operation, creation of pan-european standards (where these genuinely benefit the majority), convergence to best practice etc. however none of these things require an overarching supra national body nor can they be achieved at the expense or without the consent of the people.

Interesting link Philip - the comments are a complete hoot - best bit of unintentional comedy I have read in some time.

Your'e right there Ross. The comment section in youtube and other sites are sometimes the best thing about the internet. Conspiracy theorists emerge and tin foil hat wearers fall out of bed to give their slant on the world's problems. I especially like it when someone writes that immortal line "Hey you morans wake up!", that sort of thing.
Notwithstanding all that the video is obviously propagandist for the blue corner but does make some interesting points.
However it has to be said that where the EU are concerned their propaganda videos tend to involve happy smiling workers all together joining hands and working towards the greater good blah, blah, blah.
The wheels are now coming off so expect a surge of propaganda to emerge trying to convince the world that everything isn't as bad as all that in Europe.
