I have been experiencing my busiest ever business year. So far I have taken on more clients in the last 4 months than in the previous 18 months. With what is in the pipeline this is set to continue. I look like increasing the level of funds under advice from a bit over £10m to around £25m by the middle of next year.
Something has to 'give'.
I am therefore cutting back on some of my spare time activities.
Last night I resigned as Chairman of the Hellfire Corner Association.
I have been involved from when it started which was the organisation of the 60th anniversary celebrations of VE Day in Dover which then evolved into a 1940's weekend and then into the Armed Forces Day weekend.
I am leaving this event in fine fettle. The new and highly capable chairman is Andrew Dorrell the commander of the Marine Cadets. The committee has been strengthened and the next event has already in place a decent level of seed funding with a good core of corporate sponsors.
The last weekend was our best attended ever, the bandstand entertainment was better than ever and we have more military vehicles than ever. The 11.11 event was also a huge success and the committee is hoping to repeat that though there are some venue problems to overcome.
I will remain a sponsor of the event and have agreed to stay on the committee though my actual involvement will be much more limited than in the past and I am not sure how many meeting I can attend.
I will also be withdrawing from some other of my commitments in due course.
My activities on this Forum will be among those that are not affected.
Good luck to Andrew Dorrell in taking this event forward to bigger and better things.

Congratulations on the business front Barry; very well done. As I have said on here a number of times, your knowledge and expertise on all things financial (at least personal finance) is second to none.
I agree about the Hellfire Corner, you have done very well indeed over the years. Good Luck indeed to Andrew Dorrell.

You must have done a good job as chairman to have had such a successful event, I wish Andrew Dorrell as much success with that wonderful event that so many enjoy.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

It is good to know that your sterling achievements are to be carried forward Barry, I wish Andrew Dorrell every success in taking over your stewardship of the HCA.
