Ms Knox has been cleared of the murder of the British student Meredith Kercher. It begs the question who did commit the horrendous crime.

It was a pretty grisly crime and no wonder it has been such a media frenzy. Ms Knox looks like innocence itself, everyone's daughter, so no one could quite believe the shock of it all. But she is now free as we know, and she is destined to make a fortune.
The italian justice system is the most oddball anywhere. They charge everybody very quickly, often for things that are not crimes elsewhere.

I think the case against her failed on technical mistakes and forensic evidence gathering by SOCO. A reporter on this mornings news indicated that most people thought she was guilty but had been found innocent on technical grounds and points of law.

I doubt they will look for anyone else to be honest, the evidence was there but not handled properly. The Kercher family must be distraught, Knox will become extremely rich on the back of this but will she ever really have peace of mind?

In all murder cases it is the murderers, or the accused, that get remembered and the victims that get forgotten. It is a sad reflection of our media obsessed world that people are intent of knowing every detail of the lives of killers and have no interest in knowing anything about the lives that have been stolen.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

I agree with you. The Kercher family are still in torment and the overturning of the judgement seems to be based on technical issues over the collection and processing of evidence.
I do wonder if this would have gained such media coverage had she not been so attractive too.
Someone has already been found guilty of the murder and jailed. He admitted it. The Kersher family have been let down by the Italian police in my opinion. They either failed to do a decent job and convict all involved or they did what many people suspect they did and try to make the evidence fit the theory. This has prolonged the Kershers agony immeasurably.

the kerchers must indeed feel very let down, the whole case seems to have been handled very badly.
the italian media have had a feeding frenzy over this making it clear that they felt knox to be guilty, whilst the american media have made much out of her being innocent.

I think there are some parallels to be drawn here between the behaviour of the Italian police and that of the Portuguese police over the Maddy affair.

Absolutely. And the media as well - poring over the intimate details of the individuals and their lives and exposing them to a slavering public for scrutiny, and directing the publics emotions.

Of course it could never happen in this country, only Johnny Foreigner behaves like that.
