    Update.

    Door knocked on at nine sharp and I take guy into town and buy him a coffee.

    Plausible tale. Wife + stepdaughter in Deal. Looking for work. Claims has OU degree. Background of being brought up in care in N. Ireland. Abused by father who got 'topped' during 'troubles'. Mother heroin addict.

    Talked to local shopkeeper. Barred from shop. Abusive to staff. Has been banging on other doors locally asking for money for food.

    Will be interesting to see if I get £10 owed back.

    Have now done everything for the guy which I am going to do.

    Feel sorry for the guy BUT he's got a roof over his head, he is not going to starve, and no-one is trying to kill him. Looks like he's one of the winners on this planet IMHO?
