Been a few rumours flying around, one of them being that the Manager has been suspended, the CQC have given it bottom marks but having read through their lengthy report the residents and their relative give it top marks.

Firstly the sentencing seems rather lenient and secondly I find It rather sad that the member of staff who reported the abuse left her job because nothing was done about it. Why is someone from management not being prosecuted?

It appears a very small sentence considering the abuse that took place.
Surely if the judge felt the same as was reported that a stronger sentence should have been handed down?
And surely the manager should have also gone through the courts?

As regards Alexander house. Firstly id like to say that this didnt happen under the present manager.
I feel that management should have been accountable for the above as this was swept under carpet. CQC also knew of this incident as I and a few others mentioned this in our emails to them. As well as them having legionaires in there water pipes with residents having to drink the bath water. My nans records where doctored after I requested them after her death. Improper body charts and tablets being given to the wrong residents. Clothes going missing even thou there names where in the items. Staff having sex in unoccupied rooms at night. Also foreign workers living on the premises without crb checks.
The care manager that was there at the time of all this going on and put this home into special measures, for not safe guarding our family members has got off lightly. She is now in the same position as a care manager of a residential home in maidstone.
I feel that our elderly need the respect and care they deserve, which is why I feel we should have a central register like the drs and nurses have. This means that care managers could look into the carers qualifications and conduct etc, cbr checks to be done yearly not 3 yearly before hiring a carer. When someone gets a verbal warning or great it all gets put on this register. That way carer can't go from one home to another and get away with what they did at last home.
Dover care homes for the elderly on facebook has an opinion poll. I would like to get up a petition to try and make this register come into force. If anyone can help me that would be great, as most elderly and especially dementia patients cant speak for themselves.

Quite a lot has gone on without doubt the judge was clear the staff member was guilty
although the sentence if they were relatives I wouldn't have been happy with.
that said this story on this staff member hit kent on line and many othr sites and I'm sure will be headlines in the mercury today and express.
Being named and the road she lives will alert others living in the road, ad I'm sure with this bad publicity will affect her present employment.
The manager at least should have been hauled before the courts as should the company
but this story will go on ..

But although it appears a number of homes may be getting caught up
I'm still baffled how the judge can find this woman guilty of awful neglect and yet give a really light sentence.
The manager it appears was moved to Maidstone to avoid the flak that was to come?

I know someone who used to work for this company and he left because of the fact there was not enough time to do a good job with people because of the scheduling.

Getting back to the Alexandra house in recent months before the manager was moved on there were many incidents witnessed, but it appears only this staff member prosecuted surely they could still prosecute others?
