Sorry, not Dover (was Margate Cemetery this afternoon) but I was amazed by the friendliness of these squirrels. Fed up of them running of when I was near, I just stopped still and did my best impression of a tree....

great pics paul, the horse and the swan is the best i think, the swan's body language seems to be "come any closer and find out if it is true that we can break limbs with our wings".
the horse looks completely innocent and unaware that it might be threatening the swan.
excuse my ignorance, i have not heard of albino squirrels before, is it a genuine pic.?
the cat at sunset looks like my own moggy.
small and nasty, her party trick(being so small) was to get on to the bedroom windowsill outside, at the dead of night,
then jump across to next doors windowsill.
the window would be open due to it being summer, the slovak family would be asleep in their bed in a strange country
when suddenly 4 paws landed on them.
the screams always woke me up.
Happy days...........

Yes, nothing fixed with the albino squirrel - are fairly common by the sounds of it. She/he was being picked on by the others by the look of it, being chased away to get themselves into my photos !
Been nice knowing you :)

Our three cats go wild when they see squirrels hopping about in one of our windowboxes where we leave nuts for them. Here are a couple of photos from last summer to set the scene for the video to follow.
My brother-in-law Stephen was home from deepsea and staying with us in January and took this mobile phone video of two of the cats viewing a completely unconcerned squirrel outside the window. He sent it off to "You've been framed" but there has been no response so I have uploaded it to YouTube.

Don`t forget the endangered British red squirrel.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

No Paul, I didn`t, but I wish I had. We`ve had grey squirrel`s in our back garden for 20 year`s, and they do look comical dashing about. We must remember though that the grey is not a species of this country, and have done much to eliminate the true British red squirrel from our lands, and as Howard says, now mainly found up in the north of England and Scotland.

The days of the Red Squirrel should come to an end in about 20 yrs or so.
mainly found now North of the border in Scotland and the Greys keep marching on.
First brought from America in the 1800s.
Have not tried it yet but am told Squirrel pie is nice.
grass grows by the inches but dies by the feet.

Funny, one of the first things I noticed upon reaching these shores is the absence of the grey squirrel. The red ones are thriving over here.In fact above certain country lanes huge ropes have been stradled overhead allowing the squirrels to cross the roads in safety. The other strange thing is the abdundance of grouse.Apparently a couple were brought over a few years ago broke free and now breed at will. One is allowed to keep them should the grouse not fully adhere to the highway code and ahem...come to grief...shall we say...
