Some of you may know of local Alan who was a football referee until 1968 and football referee's assessor
died, his funeral took place at Barham today, It was nice to see Alan get a good send off the chapel packed
upstairs and down.
In Alans later years he could be seen rambling around the town with his good wife, and often in macari's in pencester road.
Alan encouraged me when i had trials with dover rugby youth club all those years ago, to run a line for the then dover colts(footy) at crabble. it gave me a bit of a buzz, and took me on a long road qualifying as a football ref in 1974 and many long years reffing
Alan was always there to advise/help.
On top of this Alan encouraged me when he found out i had been elected to the council often chatting to me about to change the world!!!
R.I.P Alan
