All parties try to control the electorate in one way or another, and in many ways that is part of their job: to offer social controls and manage trends. All parties try to manage elections and candidates. Politics is about manipulation, control and power. That has never and will never change. The only thing that changes is the peoples perceptions of it and how they themselves manage it.
