12:2464937For any interested, todays Guardian gives a front-page article on Al Quaeda's presence - and increasing presence - in Iraq. This may bring back the question if our soldiers in Afghanistan are fighting Al Quaeda or merely a local force that might not actually have anything to do with Al Quaeda.
I do not agree that our men are being sacrificed in order to accompany Afghan girls to school in Helmand! It is not part of the British Constitution, are soldiers are not recruited in order to accompany Muslim girls to school in foreign countries!
Please read the Guardian 11 August and see where Al Quaeda really is!
I have become increasingly distressed with the sacrifice of British soldiers in Afghanistan!

18:0064986Oh really Alexander. You and you warped imagination. I suspect you know the real reasons for being in Helmland but it does not suit you ideas to admit it.

20:0965007Like cancer Sid, if you don`t nip it in the bud, it`ll spread and multiply, and then it becomes more difficult to deal with. Start`s appearing in other places. In the end, it`ll win, so it must be stopped, by nipping it in the bud. That`s what the soldier`s of the west are doing now.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

13:5865140Barry, I fully reject your statement, and would recomend a public enquiery into the Afghanistan war, exactly so as to prevent our soldiers being scrificed for a cause that is different to the one claimed!
You, Barry, did write on this forum that one secret reason for our and other western soldiers being sent to fight there is the Pakistan nuclear bomb, something that is not oficial government policy. So you are the first one here who preents different versions, and secret ones! Keep me out of such accusations, please, I and open and sincere and am interested in British interests. Also, I belive in God, and not nuclear missiles and sacrificing our People's and our Country's interests to some private war-scheme of people who think that we have to submit to 1984 comissar oilicies!
You won't manage to ram your first world war ideas down my throat, Barry!

14:2765148Alexander, sometimes the ball game changes when war is waged. History is littered with such instances.

14:5465152bit like iraq them i remember tony blair saying that it was all about weapons of mass destruction.
then when they discovered there were none, the same man stated with a straight face that the war was all about getting rid of the president.
what will dave and nick say when they withdraw troops from afghanistan?
not long off either, the dutch have been the first to withdraw their troops, someone soon will follow suit, then the pressure will be on mr obama from the american public.
better get their story ready soon.

16:4965174Unfortunately, whatever the reasons, our soldiers are fighting an implacable and unprincipled enemy, who care not who is injured or killed, and who themselves, change the goal posts at the drop of a hat (how's that for mixed metaphors?).
