The Admiralty Lookout at Dover Castle has now been opened to the public from this weekend and as great job they have done too !!
Despite my initially worries about what they could do with it, there is a lot of interpretation and a lot of original fabric retained. It is also a great spot to shelter from the elements and watch the action over the channel...

Great pictures indeed Paul - well done.
Good to see that EH spent (I'm sure) quite substantial sums on Dover Castle.

There are also major works taking place later this year (the £££ reported earlier in the year) in the Keep updating the displays so that will be an interesting one too.
Well worth the 30p a week to become a Friend of Dover Castle

Been nice knowing you :)

keep up the good work paul.
the keep is being worked on as are many other historical artefacts there.
i have lost count of the number of people that do not know of the special deal at the castle.
all of have spent most of their lives here.
just as an example, all 5 sundays in june had music and dance from different eras, audience invited to join in.
the siege experience is due for a new audio/visual experience too.

"the siege experience is due for a new audio/visual experience too."
I believe that this is being moved upstairs as part of the works. There are also a number of excavation going on around the keep too which should be interesting.

baz
you can down load a membership application form from the "friends of dover castle" website.
the value for money is incredible, so many special events(mainly during the summer months) that are great
for children of all ages.
they even do special days during the winter.
last hallowe'en was a great one, creeepy people jumping out everywhere.
they employed actors to take us on spooky tours, great fun, enjoyed even by the non english speaking visitors.
last summer we had 4 successive weekends with exhibitions from falconers.
enyoyed and appreciated by all, except for the seagulls.
