A&E waiting times are far to long, everyone should be assessed within 30 minutes as even a relative minor complaint can become a lot more serious if left for 4 hours.
People move round the country so much more than they ever used to, if they are away from home for a couple of months and have a medical problem they will not go a GP or even know where one is they will use A&E if they feel unwell.
Maybe we need something like an Emergency Clinic in every town that is open a lot longer than any doctor's surgery is now or even better ensure that the public know they can see a GP at almost any time between 7.00am and 10.00pm after a simple phone call or even a walk in.
I remember many years ago when my children were young one was taken ill while we were on holiday, we found a local GP and received excellent treatment after a very short wait. If the same situation arose now I would most probably go to A&E as GPs no longer seem so accessible.
The trouble is that on the few occasions when the NHS goes wrong it goes badly wrong just when we are at our lowest.
