23:1185997"A20 Kent - A20 closed and queueing traffic London-bound between York Street Roundabout in Dover and Court Wood Interchange in Capel-le-Ferne, because of an accident involving several vehicles. Diversion in operation - Vehicles which would usually use the A20 to get from Dover to London should use the A2 and the M2 instead. Congestion to Dover Docks."
Been nice knowing you :)

00:0785999There's been no westward traffic for a couple of hours and Snargate Street is chock-a-block lorries toward York Street roundabout. They are beginning to move along.

00:1086000Just had to pull a driver out of his cab and move his lorry who did not speak English as he was blocking the way onto Aycliffe estate so an ambulance with blues and two's could get onto the estate, when are our Councilors going to speak to the police force about keeping this roundabout clear is it going to take some one's death before they do something. the markings on the road say keep clear and they totally ignore them. I have taken about 20 photo's of the lorries blocking the exit and entrance to the estate and if something is not done I will plaster these photo's in every national paper and TV station in Kent showing just how stupid Kent police are .This has been going on now for years and still they do nothing why cant we have markings that European drivers can understand. In the mean time I am waiting to see if I will be arrested for driving the 40 toner and making this toe rag get out of his cab.

01:0386001Alan, if there is any chance of your being done, you should pre-empt such action by contacting the BBC Southeast newsdesk on 01892 675580. Ask for Simon Jones, Peter Whittlesea or any other available journalist to call you.

08:1986012Good idea Peter.
The best form of defence is attack; you can also expose the stupid and dangerous practice of blocking roundabouts.

I fully understand your concerns, but without trying to defend the police, the picture is far bigger than just directing traffic.
With regard to this one area, if police are there then that meand they wont be at other happenings throughout the district, this should be thought of as well
just a thought

08:5586019Keith. Thank you, if these drivers were to understand our road markings and obey them there would be no need for anyone to be on that roundabout, the 7.5 ton wight limit on the London bound carriageway has been in place now for 6 months and Drivers still overtake going up the hill and there has not been one Driver that has been fined for braking the law and that from Kent police.I remember when there was that big Acc up near capel-le fern. Kent police said they would increase patrols on the A 20 but they never did,we see the police riding about in all there new Cars and 4x4s so were are all these cuts they say they have to make its time for Kent police to get a new boss.after all some of our council taxes are going to the police no value for money there Cant the Government give out with every ticket brought on ferries or tunnel some kind of driving guide to our driving laws and the fines that could be imposed if they break them and were is this level playing field in Europe they fine us if we break there laws.

I do understand, and obviously one lorry driver has leant to his cost of the laws so when able the police do enforce.
the problem the police have is that if they remain just at the roundabouts thats a lot of police taken off of everyday policing, im not sure that's what the rest of the District would want.
The poice cars that drive round are doing so for a reason, and if they were instead to be stuck in one place then many other jobs would not get done and im sure others would moan
its a difficult balancing act

20:3386111Maybe its time to re-educate drivers - because I for one think that as soon as they have passed their test, a good majority couldn't give a stuff about the rules of the road, having to experience these road-users on a daily basis, it amazes me.
It is people that cause accidents not the road.

22:0186119most road signals are international, alan is right to point out the very serious problems caused by hauliers who ignore them.
the problem the police have is that they have to keep things moving, if they stop someone who does not speak english then it is easier to let things go.
having said that i thought that new rules had come in that gave police powers to impound a vehicle.

22:4986124It all seems rather blatantly obvious to me, ( I'm quite ill at the moment ) so I may just be rambling.
Three sets of big Red Stop Lights, no Amber No Green.
One set on the approach to the roundabout to Samphire for serious accidents. when the lights go out the traffic moves.
Another set on the approach to the town at the roundabout. when the lights go out traffic moves.
And the most important is the aycliffe road wich should read access only wich would cover traffic both ways and not go out at all until all problems have gone away.
The area must be covered by cctv?
Sounds simple to me. Maybe Iv'e gone to elaborate.
