You have a point there Paul. At least, I as a non driver, assume you do. Your mention of, "twelfth highest " says a great deal of your even-handedness too.

Gawd! we've never had it so good!! Look at those prices rocketing. Its a fairly dismal outlook and no mistake. The slash in fuel duty by George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, clearly did not reach the humble motorist at the pumps.
15p a litre..a litre... more expensive than last Easter! truly shocking!
Once upon a time when it went up 1p a GALLON we used to have kittens!

Im sure the con lead goverment have many explanations as to why the petrol price is so high , but no plans to reduce it .

Yes terrible Brian. But as ever down here in the South East we pay the most, and because we are awash with Easter visitors passing through, and some even lingering at the moment, I can guess that the price around here will be maxed up. Must check the garages tomorrow if I remember...

the tories have stated they are a fan of the car driver, so we will see changes, but what that does mean is the buses/trains will suffer in stead

Ah...thats very high Brian as expected. If that price is accurate re Tesco thats quite a saving and the AA Report more or less states the same. Thats a saving amounting to FOUR times the chancellors reduction of his 1p.
Quite a good help that Tesco price
...but of course not as good as Mareks price down there in lil ol Jersey.

Regular grade gasoline is $3.85 a gallon in Arlington Texas today. That equates to 62.4p a litre.

The Treasury is extremely dependent on petrol-tax, but the factor determining the present increase is the recent rise in oil prices on the world market, caused because Saudi Arabia has decided the other day to cut production by half a million barrels a day, claiming that there is an over-suply of oil on the world market.
Methinks may-be there is an inconfessable reason to the suply reduction on the part of Saudi Arabia: to let all and sundry know that they can - ooohhh - cause a lot of discomfort if anybody tried haranguing them!
