today they have been used the first time,they seen to have worked well with a few rouge lorry drivers coming down the outside lane.

The new traffic measures have made the A20 horrendous and dangerous. I have had two foreign lorries almost force me of that road presumably because they thought 40mph was too slow.

strange that howard,been into town 3 times today and no problems.o800,0900 and 1350.straight into town and back again.police [x3]and traffic lights working well,all lorries coming down the outside lane are sent to the back of the que.lorries sneaking down Folkestone road and whitfield hill que jumping.

I could see at 1130 ish usual hassle around the York street roundabout where the ferry traffic sitting across the roundabout. They should put some yellow boxes on the road there although I wonder if they would take notice of them.

Darren most if not all hgv's are held back at the western hieghts roundabout on the inside lane.the outside lane is for light traffic ie cars vans,coaches and local traffic.the problem you mention stems from customs clearance and lorry park at the western docks,plus hgv's coming down folkstone road as a byepass to the traffic light system.

How do they hold the trucks back Brian because I keep hearing that they are belting along taking no notice of the speed limit.

It's only the cars that seem to take notice of the 40 mph limit; the trucks go trundling on ignoring it.

If the foreign lorry drivers know there is no fear of fines etc why would the obey our limits and traffic laws now, they do not seem to have worried about them in the past.

howard,the simple answer is the set of traffic lights they put in about a month ago.operated by dhb from a porta cabin on the junction of old Folkestone road and the A20.
and yes they do come down the road slower than useall.180 speeding tickets in the first week,no stats showing wether its cars or lorries or a combination of both.

By all accounts it seems to be mainly trucks Brian, all very well issuing speeding tickets the crux is in how many get paid.

Brian it was not the usual lorries but mainly cars across the junction.

holiday traffic Darren,aparently local papers where full of it,as howard pointed out.besides they will be going the other way next weekend.
