A20 (Dover) - work starts on the conversion of the Prince Of Wales roundabout into a ‘T’ junction on 20th February. Jackson, civil engineers, will be undertaking the work. They have a helpful Public Liaison Officer (Carole Jones) who can be contacted on 07813 520878 or A20Feedback@jackson-civils.co.uk

Work is to be phased. My understanding is that:-
On Saturday 20th February work starts in relation to the Prince of Wales roundabout alteration that will see the roundabout replaced by a ‘T’ junction.
Night closures (2000 – 0600 hrs) on 20th & 21st February will take place extending from Courtwood Junction to just before the York Street roundabout, and are required to aid traffic management prior to work starting on the Prince of Wales roundabout on 22nd February. A reduction of two lanes to a single lane is proposed in both directions.

There will be clearly signed diversions during both night closures for vehicles wishing to access the area. Snargate residents will be escorted.

From Monday 22nd February lane closures will be in place between Limekiln and York Street roundabouts. There will be no right turns from A20 eastbound into Union Street, nor a right turn from Union Street onto A20 eastbound on Snargate Street. Business and residential access to Snargate Street will be maintained throughout.

Traffic eastbound wishing to turn into Union Street will be diverted around York Street roundabout. Traffic from Union Street wishing to turn right will be diverted around Limekiln roundabout.

Work will not start on the York Street roundabout and further eastbound until a later date.

There are concerns regarding how local traffic will have to be rerouted once the whole scheme is completed later towards the end of the year. Traffic wishing to move from the Folkestone Road roundabout, Priory Street, Worthington Street or New Street and wishing to access York Street North, Durham Hill or Albany Place Car Park etc. will no longer be able to do so at the new York Street junction. Likewise traffic from the seafront wishing to access Dover Eastern Docks will need to travel further west in order to access the eastbound A20.

If I have any of this as incorrect I am sure other members will post any amendments
