Well, after being off work since last May on full pay and pending medical severence, that day arrived Saturday last when I was officially retired from my company, after a working life of more than 40 years. I certainly will miss some things, while other`s I won`t. Years of getting up or coming home at 2 or 3 in the morning with a 2 hour drive at times either side. Frost, rain, sleet and snow, cold winds, much as I love the diversity of our weather I don`t think I`ll miss this lot anymore. I have many photograph`s taken over the years, great memories of work, and people I`ve worked with, I enjoyed practically all of it, but times have changed now, and I`m departing as the new order takes hold. I wish the German Railways good luck in their attempt to have their Hi Speed `ICE` trains through the channel tunnel, and the safety and politics soon sorted out. Anyway, for me now it`s a life of leisure, though I will be having a nose round the job centre just to see what`s on offer out of interest, and find out just what work is about, with first hand information and maybe post it on here.
