17:2184968I was most disappointed on a trip to Deal this morning to find the quaint little yesteryear shop with all that 40s regalia in it has closed. I can`t recall seeing anything on here about it. A couple of things I wanted which aren`t available in Dover for Christmas presents. I haven`t been over there for a couple of month`s. Did it just fold up? While over there, I also had breakfast in `The Clock House` cafe which I`ve visited before. Again, both the staff and the food was excellent, though this time the whole lot was spoilt by the sound of Radio 2 blaring away with the odd song, but mainly traffic and travel news along with a phone in quiz! That`s as far as we got till the rain came, then back to Dover. A visit to `Banana Moon` and the gift shop next door produced a few idea`s for prezzies.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

18:4284999Talk to HMRC who set them, Howard.
We collect them and send them on.
If they returned to us the amount we sent we would have approx. extra £15m which would virtually double our council tax + grant etc.
Shows how we are being stuffed and money sent elsewhere.

18:4885004i know the facts paul, this issue came up on the old dover forum, the tax people take the money send it to london and they send us back what they do not want for themselves.
try telling government that not all of the south east is like virginia water.
witness the national insurance fiasco that helps everywhere up north and shafts us.
different government same outcome.
