Yes indeed, it was the Vortigern aground off Ostend in 1982.

It was the Hengist which was blown onto the toe-weighting apron at Folkestone Warren during the 1987 hurricane. Must have been a very hairy night for the crew.

I couldn't remember if it was the Hengist or Horsa Ed. The Vortigern had a problem early on in her career, one of the cylinders on the Pielstick engine filled with water bending a con rod when they tried to start it!

My husband was at sea the night of the hurricane, his comment the following day when he got home was "yes it was blowing a bit".
If I remember correctly the Hengist had one of the engines cut out at a crucial moment so she just drifted towards the shore, there was nothing anyone could do.
