Torch Bearers can opt to buy the one that they carry. I think it's about £2k. Oddly enough I was talking to Phil Medgett the other day and he remarked about how long they would take to arrive on ebay!

The people who carry the torches have been selected as a honour, obviously does not mean a lot to those who are selling them! I understand that Queens Jubilee medals are appearing on E Bay as well

"Some of the bearers nominated by the relay sponsors have been allowed to keep their triangular-shaped torches, made of gold-coloured aluminium and perforated with 8,000 holes, at no cost while others have been asked to pay for theirs.
Organisers LOCOG had set a cost for their nominees of 199 pounds if paid for before May 1 and 215 pounds thereafter."
The above was from the Reuters website

Yes it is crazy money.
I think those that did not have to buy their kit and torch were sponsored through CocaCola but not sure of that.
