I see another landmark pub has had the death knell .The Cliffe Tavern St Margrets at Cliffe. It was a tied vote with a Chairman casting his vote to approve the application. The Parish Council were against it .The local DDC Councillor.Over fifty objections against .
I would as a Chairman voted with the local objectors .I donot think the officers are always right.
look at Aldi’s .What is the point of a Parish Councils views and a local councillors views .

I wonder how many of those locals who objected used the place more than once or twice a year or even not at all.
We kept our village pub open and even bought it when the company were threatening to close it. We also had several objecting locals who never came through the doors in the eight years prior to our granted change of use. Our local parish councillors did not even use the place but had the nerve to object unlike the previous landlord who still used the pub and supported the change of use.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

'.
So who's actually buying all these houses locally that 'no-one can afford'?

The councils/govt are changing the face of Dover like everywhere in the UK Capt, anywhere remotely nice is not being aimed at locals, they don't care about us, we just pay their taxes until the rich arrive.....

Pubs today will fight for survival , but I do often wonder why they don't get together and sort out who's having live music as they often clash then none the following week
