When I do a supermarket shop I put my handbag in the child seat of the trolley and hold its handles with the trolley handle.
Whilst queuing at the checkout a young lad of about ten came to my trolley and stood close to it whilst putting some gum from a display in his pocket. Not my business - his parents weren't too far away. When I started putting my shopping up on the belt this lad came round and stood right next to me. He was looking at my handbag so I took it and put it on the belt with my stuff right in front of me. At this the lad lost interest and wandered off.
Now I may be completely wrong but I definitely felt that he was going to grab my bag given the chance. I understand there have been warnings in this area about pickpockets and purse grabbers - hmmm.
Anyway I just thought I would let you all know in case it happens to anyone else, or has already?
Oh yes - this was in Farmfoods but it is in no way their fault. I shop there periodically because I think their frozen food is the best value in Dover.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".
Instincts are usually correct Jacqui, it was a good job you noticed him.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.
