  i agree with john about tony benn and john smith, tom mentions another one in mr "pantsdown" as he became known.
  
  vic makes a point about nigel farage, not an honourable member but a good entertaining speaker.
  
  keith mentions mr hague, again a good one, i always though he was let down by his own side when leader.
  
  much the same with ian drunken smith, lots of good ideas but did not have the backing.
  
  the best debater i have ever seen is ken livingston, when i lived in london mrs thatcher would wheel out someone she wanted to get rid of to debate with ken on thames news. everyone knew who would win.
  
  ken clarke is always interesting and a great survivor too, mores the pity he wants everyone let out of prison.
