There never seems to be much resistance when Wetherspoons buy churches and suchlike to convert into hellholes
I'd certainly have no objection to the old Congregational Church shell being converted to a theatre - though I don't believe there'd be much use made of it personally. I was christened, attended (not by choice) church services, family weddings, youth club and many other events there.
It was a beautiful building and I'm pleased to have had an association with it. Many Sunday mornings after service I'd play on the large organ.
