Reports today from the USA (Sunday Times) say that the average age of Taliban commanders has fallen from 35 to 25 due to attrition rates. Over last three months it has been reported that 339 mid-level Taliban commanders have been killed and 949 foot soldiers.
They are saying that the Taliban are being driven to the negotiating table by this level of attrition.
Let us hope that is true and that in a few years more we can bring our boys home leaving a stable Afghanistan and Al Qaeida no safe base there, mission accomplished.

16:2980021the taleban have made it quite clear that they will only negotiate once all foreign troops have left the country.
it was the coalition forces that wanted to start negotiations.
