A Couple Of Closures In London Road?

  Baldwin Salter the plumbers have had a very low profile of late. Passers by will know that the centre piece of the window display was a white bath filled to the brim and complete with a yellow duck. I know nothing of the duck which flew away some time ago. However, the water over the past few weeks has been turning a lovely shade of green.
  
  Today it is boarded up and the inside is somewhat awry.
  

  

  
  

  

  
  
  It's sad if they have folded, there's nothing on the door to explain.
  
  
  Secondly, Bamboo and Rice, the Chinese that used to be Sun Do hasn't been open for a while either and a mountain of post is building up. Again, no explanation.

  i have notised in the last few days that the two kebab shops in the market square and the shop in the pub in snargate street have been closed.

  Not as far as I know, they just can't afford the shop anymore so have closed it.
  
  Their telephone number (226611) is diverted to their mobile (not sure if that is to Mr. Salter or Mr. Baldwin though).

  i heard that they are still around and doing well, no doubt rent and business rates on the shop were too much of a burden.

  Another thought if the plumber's shop did not generate enough extra business for them there was no point in keeping it.
  
  While talking about plumbers a cautionary tale. I was quoted £800 for a replacement hot water tank by a well known long established plumbing firm, they installed the original central heating system, which I thought was far too high. A plumber recently installed a new one for me for about half the amount, even if I doubled his labour costs I would still have saved myself £300.
