Certainly an interesting idea and would solve the access problem when the subway closes. The nearest crossing point being near the leisure centre, funding could be an issue.

I love the idea of a bridge but would we need such a complex structure however well thought out, and it has been by Graham Morris.
I would much rather have this than the silly cable car plan mooted previously.

Is the underpass closing and when? I don't have a problem with the underpass except when it is flooded. I like the boat pictures and children love them. A beautiful bridge would be nice of course, but some sort of safe crossing there joining the town with the seafront is essential. I agree with Jan about the cable car that was a ridiculous idea.

Yes I agree with Jan and Judith about the cable car. I think a bridge would be nice because from it there would be a nice view. But then the underpass is pretty and good if it's raining I suppose.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

How about a bridge from the Western docks roundabout to the Eastern Docks roundabout, across the inner harbour? It would mean no dock traffic using either the A2 or A20 would interfere with local traffic (sorry DTIZ, half of your customers have gone!) and the pedestrian crossings on Townwall St could be re-instated.
It's technically feasible (the Jubilee Way viaduct was originally over water) and could be included in the Western Docks development. Just a bit too logical I suppose.

The main reason I would like a bridge is because I dislike using tunnels unless absolutely necessary.
Ray, logic seldom happens as plans are often thought up by someone sitting at a desk miles away.

I think Graham Morris's idea is very useful. He should join the discussions on this forum so that we can all take advantage of his wisdom and broaden the discussion.
