A Brengun Carrier in Caen 1944.

  Some weeks back I posted some images of a model Brengun carrier, well, since then I've built a diorama base for it. The aim here is twofold, 1 - the build as lifelike a set as I could, and 2- to photograph it in such away that it looks 'real' and of the time, see what you think and let me know!
  
  

  

  
  
  The figures and carrier are by Tamiya, the building is by Miniart, grass is from FOG Models, all is brush painted in Tamiya acrylics, the camera used is a Nikon D700 fitted with a 24/120mm F4 Nikkor or a 105mm F2.5 micro-Nikkor and ringflash.

  The whole project took about three months, working on it everyday, much of the work was in the painting which was done in washes, very thin coats of colour applied over and over to build up the weather staining and fire damage. The broken window glass is from the packageing of perfume from Boots!

  I have had a go with an AFV Club Centurion but found it terribly engineered as a kit and a very tedious build. Quite frankly I got fed up with it and am now about to start a Hasegawa 1/32 Ki61 Tony 'Special Attack' aircraft.

  Barry, did I miss your post on your TBM Avenger? My next big build will be the new Tamiya 1/35th MkIV Male tank of 1917, it is a runner, being motorised, and has 5 figures, so maybe a diorama is in there somewhere. In the mean time I will build something smaller, a jeep, light tank or whatever I find in Turners model shop! Many thanks to you all for your kind comments.

  Hi Phil
  The turret was missing from the kit so I went through all the 'hoops' to get one in April with the UK importer and it has not arrived (yet). The model sits, 95% complete awaiting the part. Trumpeter's post sale service is appalling. I have done some chasing but the importers are not exactly the most dynamic people I have dealt with.
  
  A lesson here, if you get a Trumpy kit, check the contents immediately and is anything is missing jump on it straight away and take it up with the seller. The Avenger was sat in my stash for over 2 years.....hence my problems.

  Barry, sorry to hear that, in my my long years of sticking things together I have never had an incomplete kit, maybe I have just been lucky! Anyway, I still look forward to seeing it when it is done.
