8mm Video to Disk

  I have an old Sony 8mm Video Camera which has given up the ghost. I have lots of old tapes that I would like to put on disks. Does any one know anywhere local that does this?. I called in a shop at the Charlton Centre a few months ago but the receptionist wasn't very helpful. I have seen several sites on the internet that do it but it doesn't come cheap.

  I had some 8mm converted a few years ago by the Snappy Snaps chain and was very pleased with the results.

  Afraid I'm not an expert on moving images, I'm one of those idiots who chose betamax because it was better quality than VHS!

  Ray - I did better than that, I chose the Grundig/Philips Video 2000 system because it was even better quality with 'flippable' tapes and up to 8 hours recording per tape - 16 hours when the half-speed recorders came out not long before its demise
  
  It shows that 'first out' and good marketing can win over quality.
