7 day health service
- 20 March 2016 11:22312156Can't find the original thread but a word of thanks to the NHS for the service I received this morning at the CT/MRI suite in Canterrbury. Seemed to me that all the departments were in action and all busy. I was told to be their 09.15 To drink some muck for the scan at 10.15. One they got a vein open everything went like clockwork. No doubt the top brass were still in bed at home but judging by the full car park and busy waiting rooms there was no shortage of front line staff and patients.
Can't remember seeing Jeremy Hunt there though for some reason. - Captain Haddock

It's of course partially because it would be stupid leaving expensive equipment/operating theatres etc etc lying idle at weekend that we need the Junior Doctors (and others) working over weekends."We are living in very strange times, and they are likely to get a lot stranger before we bottom out"

When I told the young girl that was doing my scan that I suffered from chronic back pain she was away and back in seconds with pillows to make me comfortable for the procedure. I did wonder what would happen if there was a serious emergency in A & E or an inpatient took a turn for the worse and there were no senior staff on duty.

They'd probably call an ambulance to take the patient to Margate or Ashford, no A&E services at Canterbury.
And while the MRI equipment and staff are great as you say, it is on the back of a lorry trailer in the car park, and if you can't climb up the steps you're stuffed - not like you see on 24 Hours in A&E. - Brian Dixon
