Ian Taylor is indeed a local and a friend of mine who I have known for over 30 years, he is a local spokeman for a car pressure group.
He usually speaks a great deal of sense on the issue but I have to agree with Ian (Lilford) about the problems with Barton Road and Frith Road with all the schools, but I do not think imposing a 20mph limit is the best way to solve the problem. People ignore the 30mph limit on that road so will certainly ignore a 20mph limit. There is a need for proper traffic calming measures, road narrowing and so on (not speed bumps!). Perhaps a narrowing of the road through increased parking by way of a herringbone pattern in the road might be the way, alongside some 'intrusions' into the road to enforce lower speeds when there is little parking. I am sure the traffic engineers can come up with a scheme.
