The National War Memorial Project (not theDover War Memorial Project), initiated by John Pegg, was hoped to have been given the go ahead by now so it could have been opened by the 100 Anniversary of the start of the First World War.

It's progress has been halted so I understand, by English Heritage because they don't feel that the location - on the Western Heights, is appropriate.

Done with respect for the surroundings, bearing in mind the area is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (I'm sure Scotchie will put me right if I have described it wrongly), to me, it must be the most appropriate location there can be.

If it were to come to fruition, it would be an enormous boost to Dover and would transform the Town.
