Andy, on the front page of this forum I wrote, just after gov. decided to send away all the immigration officers from Dover Port, that people could attempt getting through hidden in the trailers of lorries and risk dying. And that the common knewledge in Calais that the border controls in Dover are being drastically dismantled would be an incitement for more to try it.
I also got shot down in flames about two weeks ago on this forum for proposing a one pound per vehicle toll in British commercial ports so as to help cover the costs of border patrol. i think my worse crime was to have proposed that the employed people be British. I also sent that very same proposal to Charlie Elphiske by email, just before posting it on the Forum, and he replied stating that, sadly, it doesn't work like that, but that he would like to see more parity betwen british lorry-drivers and foreign ones, as the latter are evidently priviledged.
I believe it was Alec who backed me up on this one on the forum, stating that foreign lorry drivers don't even buy petrol in britain and just haul it over in laden tanks from the continent...
So yeas, Howard, I've already done it for you!
