1,400 Scouts...
- 18 September 2011 18:00127100This weekend has seen over 1400 scouts from various groups all over Kent visiting Dover for a day out - they have taken in various places like the Grand Shaft and Western Heights, Dover Transport Museum and a boat trip - here are some of them on their way out when we returned from the Breakwater this afternoon.

Hope the scouts enjoyed their trip. 1400..jeez quite a few there!..who fed them all !!

Lincolnshire Born and Bred - 19 September 2011 08:19127155I think you will find (unless things have change in last two years) that some Scout Groups in Dover are stronger in membership than others, some may have waiting lists but most will not. The other thing to remember is Scouting includes Girlss, as long as there is a female Leader in the Groups/Sections.
The hardest thning in Scouting these days is getting the Leaders, People do not want to get involved like they used to and a lot of that is due to the regulations which are in place and in some cases have to be. The days of "I will come along and help out" have long gone.
It is still a great Movement and one that moves with the times and there are some good Groups here in Dover.

if so please remove it. Thank you. - 19 September 2011 15:55127214They are all just called Scouts not Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts.and yes each Section (Beaver/Cub/Scout) within a Group must have a female Leader for girls to be in that section of the Group.
I had 30 years in the Movement only giving up two years ago and loved every minute.
