Western Heights Nature and Heritage Day

The Western Heights Preservation Society are pleased to announce an event on Saturday 7th September from 11am until 11pm

11am until 4pm the Grand Shaft will be open FREE for the day
12pm - 1 hour guided walk around the Grand Shaft Barracks site and outside of the Drop Redoubt
2pm - 1 hour Plants and Flowers of the Heights by Mel Wrigley WCCP
3pm until 8pm on the Grand Shaft Barracks site the South East Kent Astronomical Society will be doing sun observations
4pm - 1 hour guided walk around the Grand Shaft Barracks site and outside of the Drop Redoubt
6pm until 8pm twilight opening of the Drop Redoubt. Limited access to the fort will be available with our volunteers on site to answer any questions
8pm until 11pm on the Grand Shaft Barracks site the South East Kent Astronomical Society will be doing some night observations
8pm until 10pm Tony Rouse will be in the Drop Redoubt ditches with the traps to see what interesting moths we can attract and identify
8pm until 10pm an opportunity to wander the Drop Redoubt ditches with the bat detectors to see what interesting bats are in the area.
All FREE but a suggested of £2 donation which will all go back into the work of the Society
