Western Heights At War

The October Open Weekend will be a departure from our usual theme, as we will be focusing on the Second World War and the role played by the Drop Redoubt and the rest of the Western Heights fortifications during the War. Re-enactors from the period will help to recreate the wartime atmosphere at the Drop Redoubt and you will be able to learn more about the men who were actually based at the Drop Redoubt during the time that Dover was known as Hellfire Corner.

The Grand Shaft will also be open over this weekend with free admission and refreshments will be available.

Admission is £4 for adults, with accompanied children being admitted for FREE. Western Heights Preservation Society members can gain admission at half price on presentation of their membership card.
