As well as his successful Channel swims, Gary has completed 4 Comrades running ultra marathons (90 km), 5 Duzi canoe marathons (120km), and summited Kilimanjaro in 1999. He also completed a solo triathlon from London to Paris in 2001 (run 150km, Channel relay, cycle 250km), and has made 4 swimming crossings between Robben Island and Cape Town mainland (3 x 7km; 1 x 11km).
