We are running more than a little behind schedule on this one but here we are nevertheless. Its always nice to look at some pretty girls so we dont need much of an excuse to put this selection up for all to enjoy. The event was the Miss European contest held recently at the Burstin Hotel in Folkestone. Not entirely sure if one can call this a beauty contest nowadays but nevertheless the girls are stunningly beautiful. What struck home about the event was how much all the girls seem to enjoy it and the smiles were re-assuringly genuine. Six countries took part... England, Ireland, Wales, Belgium, Holland, and Malta.
The contest was won by the delightful Belgian, Melissa Vingerhoed. That's dark haired Melissa in the smaller picture and looking very pretty indeed. Also in that picture on the left hand side is last years winner blonde haired Kathy Gysels, also from Belgium. At the top of the page we have a bevy of Dutch maidens in traditional orange, and that's surely Claudia Schiffer mark II on the extreme left of that shot! On the immediate left above, representing Ireland in green and white, is Saskia Wadsworth-Smith, who is clearly enjoying herself bigtime. She won the sash as Deputy Princess and was "over the moon". She is of course daughter, as many of our readers will know, to top forumites and doverforum 'staffers' ColetteB and Barry W-S.
