20 May 2013Things are starting to come right now on the economy. Too slow still, far too slow, but nevertheless it is turning around and for the first time in years we have actually seen forecasting revisions moving up.....
But as soon as the most important matter of the day starts to show signs of improvement we see Cameron swamped by other controversies. The big problem here is that this is all self-inflicted. Cameron as leader takes full responsibility for it.
He has screwed up the EU issue. OK, he has to placate the LibDems, for now, but he really has made a complete hash of it.
Then there is his idiotic pursuit of Gay Marriage.
And now we have 'loongate'.....
Cameron must take full responsibility for this. He is leader, he sets the tone, he appoints his no10 staff. It is he who has surrounded himself by these trendy 'liberal' metropolitan types with agendas that simply do not connect with the grass roots.
He needs to get a grip. Soon the coalition will end and we will get a period of minority Conservative Government, 6 months to a year leading up to the next general election. When that happens there will be no hiding place and he will need to act as a Conservative PM and leader, something he has not done since the coalition was formed. No longer will he be afforded the benefit of the doubt.
