Prince Of Wales Pier Closing Overnight For Winter Season

Monday, 25 October 2010 at 2:05pm

Following several incidents of vandalism, the Prince of Wales Pier will be closed overnight during the winter season.

From Friday 29th October the pier will close every night from 7.00pm until 8.00am the following morning. Business will carry on as usual for the cafe at the end of the pier which will continue to open during the day at weekends.

Dover Harbour Board have said they are sorry for having to take this necessary step, and apologise for any inconvenience it may cause to those who use the pier in the evenings.

David wheeler commented:
It is a shame to see this pier shut at an evening but due to narrow minded people i can see the reason why. me and a friend fished this pier all night up untill the day they closed it its a great venue to fish and great place to teach the kids how to pier fish. i think they should give fishermen the key like they do at dungy look forward to it re-opening of an evening to catch some more big fish.
