Man Charged With Smuggling Drugs
Français Deutsch Italiano EspañolUK Border Agency officers in Dover have charged a 25 year-old man with drug smuggling.
Lulzim Gjergji of Westleigh Close, Northampton, has been remanded in custody until he next appears at Dover Magistrates Court on 21 January.
The Albanian man was arrested following an incident on 11 January at the inward tourist controls at Dover's Eastern Docks. UK Border Agency officers searched a vehicle and uncovered approximately four kilos of heroin with an estimated street value of £190,000 in the bumper of the car.
Enquiries by UK Border Agency investigators are continuing.
Ray Payne, Assistant Director for the UK Border Agency, said:
