    That's an interesting observation Howard; imagine the scenario when a person seeks NHS treatment if there was an easy way of costing it. "Now Madam/Sir before we resuscitate you do any of the following apply to your way of life?"

    Or there could be a price list stating the excess payable in % terms for those who are diagnosed with 'preventable' illnesses!

    No, of course I haven't got all the answers but an extra tax on some items which are deemed to be harmful could be passed on to the NHS to help out. If the amount was clearly stated on the pack it would give the purchaser the option to buy or not.

    As for obesity I don't think that is a problem which you suffer from although it does appear to be a growing problem!
