    Thanks for your in depth analysis of the political scene Philip i was thinking more along the lines of the mansion tax being dragged up again. Two things occur to me, firstly you could have an elderly couple who bought a family home say 40 years ago and due to the vagaries of the housing market their area became "fashionable" pushing up the value of their house. That same couple now living on a modest pension would be struggling to pay for the maintenance and council tax. Secondly there are many people living in mansions in the North East and parts of Wales and Scotland that would not pay this proposed tax because of much lower property prices.
