Thanks for your in depth analysis of the political scene Philip i was thinking more along the lines of the mansion tax being dragged up again. Two things occur to me, firstly you could have an elderly couple who bought a family home say 40 years ago and due to the vagaries of the housing market their area became "fashionable" pushing up the value of their house. That same couple now living on a modest pension would be struggling to pay for the maintenance and council tax. Secondly there are many people living in mansions in the North East and parts of Wales and Scotland that would not pay this proposed tax because of much lower property prices.

I was wrong about the labour leader, Howard. He's not a deluded weirdo but a dangerous deluded weirdo. Anyone who tells us that he is going to completely decarbonise our electricity by 2030 is nothing less.
As I say - a dangerous deluded weirdo otherwise known as the Tories best asset.

The chancellor has announced that all those under the age of 21, unemployed for 6 months will have to do community stuff like help clean their local park. We get enough people given community service orders surely they should be doing it.

All they need do is send back the EU workers ,there would be plenty work for all ,we could chop benefits and send them all back to work .

Conference season drawing to the close with not too much excitement and major policy decisions, the blues cutting working benefits for the low paid caught most of the headlines, the promise of 7 day opening of GP's surgeries and training up more of our own seems 5 years into the future minimum. Cannot remember much about the reds so it couldn't have been inspiring.

Keith is absolutely right, there are far too many immigrants here. Our health system and schools are creaking under the sheer weight of numbers.
I really don't blame them for coming here, this to them is the land of milk and honey, it is the Governments fault for allowing so many here. We now have thieves, murderers, rapists and all types of criminals entering the country, we have enough of our own let alone letting some of the scum of Europe in.
Cameron hasn't got a clue what to do, neither has Milliband but Farage at least has a popular solution.

Farage might have a popular solution but will he or UKIP ever get the power needed to enforce it.

We come to the last conference of the season with insults flying from all parties to all parties. Clegg sets out his stall clearly by distancing himself very firmly away from the blues and their taxation policies.

Does anyone believe or really care what is said at party conferences, I know I don't they are full of waffle but little substance.
Clegg's lot have always benefitted from the protest vote, I believe UKIP will now get that.

Been watching the yellow conference this morning(well it is raining), rank and file members of the party giving dull speeches.
I get the distinct impression that most don't actually believe in anything, most of the subjects were irrelevant to most watching and they would have not come up at other party conferences.
In summing up most seemed to be decent enough people indulging their hobby but little else.

Clegg promises to raise the level before one pays tax to £.11,000 less than the blues offer but would bring it in during 2016 instead of after 2018. The latest opinion polls show that there is a good chance of the coalition carrying on after next May.
