Pointless treatments on the NHS

30 June 2018 15:45345522No surgery is pointless, whether it is necessary is a different matter.
I have had two of those listed and both have significantly improved my quality of life. One meant I could go out every day of the month without the continual worry of embarrassment, the other meant a good nights sleep without excruciating cramp interrupting almost nightly as had happened for months on end together with swollen painful legs.-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

- 30 June 2018 16:11345524A good example of pointless treatment on that list is Trigger Finger which I have had for around 5 years. The consultant said the surgery had to be under general anaesthetic rather than local which put me off as I like to know what they are doing and added the probability was I would gain 10 -15% improvement which was much the same as useless so I turned it down.
Nowadays the NHS website says that surgery can be done with a local anaesthetic culminating in a full recovery. - 26 May 2021 15:31370385I know some doctors' ethos is that they'll try absolutely everything before surgery to avoid the risks...interesting approachReady to embrace life!
