Last I heard there was planning permission to convert Westmount into flats but that was a long while ago. Were any of Mr Rix's companies in attendance today?

Can't remember Stu but the planning permission expired long ago apparently and haven't seen a new one go through. On the positive side this weeks planning list shows that the owners of the derelict site nearby in Malvern Road have put in an application to build 7 units which suggests they will be sizeable houses with garages and off street parking.

Who owns the site, one of the Councils or had it been sold off?

Don't think a council ever owned it , has been derelict for around 20 years and was contaminated ground which didn't help. Planning permission was originally granted but going from memory the economic downturn came along so developers were wary of building something that wouldn't sell quickly. Changed hands at auction about a year ago and hopefully all systems go now.

I suspect you are being over-optimistic there
Had a quick google

Weirdly the same company is involved with the Dover Priory car park. See that thread.
Pretty pictures, but not a lot of detail.

I'm talking about Malvern Rd I don't have any knowledge about Westmount other than it was KCC owned at one stage.

Just read this on Facebook the Dover (Kent) History Pages.......
"An application to demolish Westmount was submitted on Tuesday and planning permission to build new houses is pending. Described as beyond repair. Proposed demolition to start 30TH November. The details have now been removed from DDC Planning site !!"

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Presumably no need to meet for a Demolition Notice as planning application was approved in 2009, no. 08/00619

I thought that plans approved expired after a certain length of time plus Jan mentions in her post that planning permission for new dwellings was pending approval.

They look more like forensics than demolition workers in the pics.

Is that the royal "we" Stu or do you work for Councillor Rix?

I was talking to the Digger driver and he said that the brick etc are being recycled. Which I feel is a very good thing as I think we should do more. If everybody done there bit of recycling the town would be a cleaner place.
Lots of wood for open fires on the site. But it is being sent for recycling too.
